Welcome to California High School’s American Sign Language Learning Community!
Hi! My name is Pearl Gupta, and I’m the founder and president of California High School’s American Sign Language (ASL) Club.
I created this website because I remember what it felt like to begin learning ASL and not always know where to find resources, practice opportunities, or connections with the Deaf community. As a student, I wanted a place where learning didn’t stop after class—a place where people could continue practicing, ask questions, meet others who are interested in ASL, and discover opportunities to become involved.
Our goal is to build an inclusive community at California High School where students of all experience levels are welcome, whether you’re just learning your first signs or have been studying ASL for years. Through this club and website, you’ll find learning resources, information about ASL classes and educational opportunities, practice sessions, Deaf community events, and ways to continue growing your signing skills.
ASL is more than just a language—it’s the language of a vibrant culture and community. It also fulfills world language requirements for many colleges and can count toward California’s State Seal of Biliteracy, making it both personally meaningful and academically valuable.
This website is just the beginning. My hope is to make ASL more accessible at California High School, inspire more students to learn, and create a welcoming space where everyone can practice, connect, and grow together.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you’ll join us as we build an amazing ASL community at Cal!
